Pros: Lightweight "I have reviewed this product based on its purpose, rather than based on its ability to secure a lock.
The purpose of this lock is to give you a precious few seconds to nip into a shop to grab a sandwich.
I have a similar lock the Abus Combiflex 202 which is made for a similar purpose. That lock is a tad smaller cable length wise, but is very bulky so takes up so much space in your saddle bag. The Giant Surelock is perhaps less sturdy than the Abus, it is more of a strong keyring that locks. But takes up so little space in your saddle bag that I will be keeping this in my saddle bag at all times for those moments you need to nip into a shop on a long ride. The space saving compared to the Abus would give me space for another inner tube.
With both locks it would take a bike thief seconds to get through the locks, but what this lock should do is give you a valuable 15-30 seconds to dash out the shop if needed to stop a casual thief walking off with the bike.
Advantage over the Abus: Slightly longer cable, far smaller body to the lock.
Disadvantage over the Abus: Less sturdy cable lock mechanism. Cable about 0.5-1mm less thickness.
I tend to ride my bike with a small saddle bag with basics and generally long rides without stopping anywhere, other than the odd shop to buy a sandwich or banana when energy levels drop so for me the Giant lock will suffice. If you tend to stop for a mid ride coffee somewhere, this lock is perhaps not for you. If you ride with a larger saddle bag where space is less of an issue, go for the Abus.
